Body Language… How to Tell if He Is Into You

Do you notice when you walk in a room if a man is looking at you?

Although many women are good observers, I find a lot of my female friends and clients have blinders on and are totally unaware when a guy is attracted to them.  As a dating coach I watch people in the field as they interact with the opposite sex, and I find there are distinct flirting techniques, messaging and body signals that men display when they are interested in someone.

In fact, some women don’t realize this but most men wear their desire for women on their sleeve. What they feel and think inside is what they show on the outside with overt body signals.

Here are some fun and quick tips to help you detect these signals so that you can act upon them if interested!

Facial Expressions

One of the simplest ways of men flirting is with a playboy, lopsided smile.  When men see a woman they are attracted to they will lift their eyebrows up making them look bright, large and inviting.

Men will also smile if they like you, but they also do something very distinctive with their lips.  If he likes what he sees his lips will automatically part for a second when your eyes first meet, and then his eyes will travel up and down your body scanning his favorite points.  Men are attracted to a woman’s physical beauty, and will use his eyes to actually grope her face and body.  Finally, a man will display almost an animalistic expression by flaring his nostrils when you capture his eye!

Body Signals

When a man meets a woman he’s into for the first time, he becomes fidgety and moves in an excited manner and it shows in his body’s language.  There are unconscious acts that men engage in when they are first attracted to a woman.  A man will accentuate his physical size by standing with his hands on his hips or spread his legs while sitting opposite of her for an “open” display.

He wants to show a woman what he has to offer.  He will also stand close and touch her lightly to connect with her in a way that says “I like you more than a friend.”  Oddly enough, like women, men also play with their hair.  He will either run his hands through it or smooth it depending on the style he is sporting to make him look more attractive to the woman.

Preening Gestures

Most people think that women only engage in preening behaviors.  Surprisingly, men engage in tidying as well.  He might fix his socks by pulling them up or adjusting them, play with the buttons nervously on his jacket (which can be an unconscious desire to remove his clothes) or stroke his tie.  These are all ways of saying that he likes the woman enough to want to look good for her.

So next time you are out on that date notice if he is playing with his socks!  In order to avoid missing some magical opportunities it’s important to notice these signals so that you can have the confidence to let a man know you are interested and act upon it.
