Women's WardrobeWardrobe Essentials For Women: The Best Basics For a Sexy Closet…

Presenting a refined and feminine woman to the world doesn’t mean you have to go shopping every weekend and spend thousands of dollars on the latest trends. All you have to do is invest in a few essential pieces (the best wardrobe essentials for women) that can take you anywhere – from dinner to dancing and from mommy to business. In today’s article, I’m sharing with you the staples I believe every woman should have for a well-rounded, feminine and effortless wardrobe.

1. A few pairs of well-fitting jeans.

Hands down, jeans are the #1 staple for an effortless wardrobe because everyone wears them and they are so versatile. You can dress them up to go to dinner, or pair them with simple sandals for running errands. I always recommend having a few different pairs of jeans – a darker pair for night and something lighter for the day.

The most important thing to look for when buying jeans is fit, and for that reason I recommend looking at jeans as investment pieces. It’s a good idea to spend a little more if they fit you perfectly and you’ll wear them for years. If you need help choosing jeans for your body type, download my eBook for a full guide here:

2. Basic tee shirts and tanks.

Classic layering tank tops and tee shirts in black, brown and white are a must! I also recommend purchasing a few tees in pops of color like fuchsia or teal, always keeping in mind which colors look best on your skin tone.

3. A few key dresses.

Every woman needs a few gorgeous dresses she can grab at a moment’s notice. For starters, invest in a little black dress that can be worn for any event – conservative enough to wear to a funeral, but dressy enough for a date. I also recommend two fun cocktail dresses that can be used for spontaneous work events or holiday parties. When buying dresses pay attention to the fit and look for something you can wear for years to come.

4. Awesome, versatile jackets.

A black leather jacket is a staple because it looks good on every age group and body type. I recommend one that falls a little shorter and can provide some warmth, so it’s good for fall and spring. Every woman also needs a good blazer for the office or to throw on with jeans for a casual look.

5. Shoes, shoes, shoes!

First and foremost, you want a classic pair of heels in black or brown, in a style that flatters your body type. I also recommend a pair of casual but cool boots, a pair of sandals, a pair of wedges and a pair of casual flats or sneakers. Also, a word to petite women: be aware that flats with a round or square toe will make you appear shorter!

6. The extras that will really make you stand out.

When you’re building a wardrobe, don’t forget to invest in accessories and undergarments. Important staples include an invisible thong, a nude camisole that will work under sheer clothes, belts in different widths and colors, updated eyeglasses, hair accessories, chunky necklaces and cool bracelets. Don’t overlook the extras, because these are what really make an outfit amazing.

A final note…

This article is meant as a guide to help you build your own unique wardrobe of staples. All of the items here are great pieces for any woman, but remember to keep your own lifestyle in mind. Feeling good about how you look is the main goal, so choose flattering pieces that you love wearing, and you’ll be good to go.
